The hatching was the first competition we participated in. The hatching was created in an effort to 'support local entrepreneurs and make the Lansing region a great place to start a business'. They hold competitions every month for anyone with an idea for a company who is looking for funding, legal support, office space, and more. The $1,000 from this competition went towards market research and validation.

The GreenLight Business Model Competition was formed through a collaboration between Spartan Innovations, MSUFCU, MEDC, and MSU to bring together entrepreneurs from all over Michigan. It awards entrepreneurs over $50,000 during its annual competition, and even more through smaller qualifier competitions. Winning $7,000 at GreenLight launched us forward financially and was a huge validation for the viability of our idea.

Safetysit participated in the 2015 MWest business plan competition and placed second on the masters track. The $2,500 we won at this competition was used for contracting engineers to develop our design. MWest is 'student venture competition designed to create cross collaboration between students that span across several universities from West Michigan'. They give away about $40,000 annually, in addition to many resources, mentors, and other opportunities for new student ventures.

Spectrum Health is one of the largest healthcare systems in Michigan. Their innovation team works to foster and promote inventive, clinician driven ideas that improve the quality of care they provide. They have connected us to over a hundred health care professionals and several large healthcare systems for market research and market testing. They have been essential in our development, helping us with resources like patent costs as well as guiding the development of our product. The problem we are addressing originated from Spectrum Health clinicians.

The Small Business Development Center has helped us at pivotal and strategic points throughout our development process. The SBDC is a free service whose goal is to provide assistance to small business and aspiring entrepreneurs through consulting, procurement, and a variety of other services. They have aided us in our market analysis, business plan development, and commercialization plan.
